NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will hold a public hearing on a proposed amendment to an Administrative Rule promulgated pursuant to 1994 PA 451, Part 351, being Michigan Compiled Laws 324.35103. This hearing is being held to obtain public comments on the proposed amendment to the Administrative Rule entitled Wilderness and Natural Areas. The purpose of the rule amendment is to formally dedicate 2,326 acres in Menominee County as the Carney Fen Natural Area.
The public hearing will be held Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Menominee County MSU Extension Office, S904 U.S. Highway 41, Stephenson, Michigan, 49887. An informational session will start at 7:00 p.m. CST, followed by the public hearing at 7:30 p.m.

This notice of public hearing is given in accordance with Part 351 of 1994 PA 451, MCL 324.35103 (2) and (3), and Section 41 and 42 of Michigan’s Administrative Procedures Act, 1969 PA 306, as amended, [MCL 24.241 and 24.242]. These rules will become effective immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
All interested persons are invited to attend and present their views regarding the proposed rule amendment and it is requested that all statements be submitted in writing for the hearing record. Anyone unable to attend may submit comments in writing to: Natural Areas Coordinator, DNR Wildlife, P.O. Box 30444, Lansing, MI 48909-7944. Written comments must be postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008.
The meeting site and parking is accessible. Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. People with disabilities requiring services, or materials in an alternate format, to effectively participate in the meeting should contact LuAnn Klont at the above address a minimum of five (5) business days before October 20, 2008.
