NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OCTOBER 28, 2008

The Department of Labor and Economic Growth, Bureau of Fire Services will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 28, at the MEDC Lake Michigan Conference Room at 300 N. Washington Square, Lansing, MI. The hearing will be held to receive public comments on proposed changes to the Administrative Rules for the Health Care Facilities Fire Safety Rules.
The proposed rules will adopt the 2006 edition of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) upon which the current health care facilities fire safety rules are based, and to reflect “recognized good practice as evidenced by standards adopted by nationally recognized authorities in the field of fire protection,” as mandated in 1941 PA 207.
These rules are promulgated by authority conferred on the Bureau of Fire Services by 1941 PA 207. These rules will take 60 days after filing with the Secretary of State.
The rules (Rule Set 2008-013 LG) are published on the Michigan Government web site at http://www.michigan.gov/orr and in the October 1, 2008 issue of the Michigan Register. Comments may be submitted to the following address by 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. The hearing site is accessible, including handicap parking. Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. Information at this meeting will be presented by speakers and printed handouts.
