    Please take notice that pursuant to the provisions of the Administrative Procedures Act (1969 PA 306, MCL 24.242) and MIOSHA (1974 PA 154 as amended, MCL 408.1019, and MCL 408.1021), the

    Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will conduct a public hearing to allow all persons an opportunity to present data, views, questions, and arguments relative to proposed amendments as promulgated by the Construction Safety Health Standards Commission and the General Industry Safety Standards Commission to Construction Safety Standard Part 22 Signals, Signs, Tags, and Barricades, Construction Safety Standard Part 32 Aerial Lift Platforms, General Industry Safety Standard Part 58 Aerial Work Platforms, and General Industry Safety Standard Part 74 Fire Fighting.

     

    The proposed Construction Safety Standard Part 22 Signals, Signs, Tags, and Barricades, Construction Safety Standard Part 32 Aerial Lift Platforms, and General Industry Safety Standard Part 58 Aerial Work Platforms are being revised to adopt the 2011 edition of the Michigan Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD). The Michigan Department of Transportation updated the MMUTCD to include the 2009 edition of the Federal MUTCD. In addition, the proposed Construction Safety Standard Part 22 Signals, Signs, Tags, and Barricades are being revised to give employers more options for safeguarding employees setting up or removing traffic control devices from a moving vehicle. The proposed General Industry Safety Standard Part 74 Fire Fighting will update the existing MIOSHA rules for training; for construction, care, and use of equipment; and for the safeguards to be furnished and maintained as it relates to municipal fire service personnel and equipment.

     

    The proposed Construction Safety Standard Part 22 Signals, Signs, Tags, and Barricades, Construction Safety Standard Part 32 Aerial Lift Platforms, General Industry Safety Standard Part 58 Aerial Work Platforms, and General Industry Safety Standard Part 74 Fire Fighting are published in the December 1, 2012 issue of the Michigan Register.     Persons attending the hearings are urged to submit a written summary of remarks as part of their presentation. The submissions of a written statement will in no way prohibit or limit the right of oral expression by any persons at the hearings. Persons unable to attend the public hearings may submit separate written data, views, and arguments relative to the proposed rules by mail, e-mail, or facsimile and must be received no later than 5 p.m. on December 5, 2012.
