    NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

    Bureau of Health Professions – General Rules

     

    The Department of Community Health will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 2:00

    p.m. at the Department of Community Health, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 1, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

     

    The public hearing is being held to receive comments from interested persons on amendments to administrative rules that pertain to the biennial and triennial renewal of licenses and registrations. The rules will be updated to add health professions that require practitioners to be licensed or registered as a result of recently enacted statutory requirements in the Public Health Code. The rules will also be revised to delete the years specified for renewal, which are no longer applicable because licenses and registrations currently are renewed on biennial and triennial renewal cycles.  In addition, a new rule is being proposed to incorporate by reference the revisions to section 1877 of the Federal Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395nn).

     

    These rules are being promulgated under the authority of sections 16145(3) and 16201 of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.16145(3) and 333.16201 et seq. and Executive Reorganization Order Nos. 1996-1, 1996-2,

    and 2003-1, MCL 330.3101, 445.2001 and 445.2011.  In addition, section 16221(e)(iv)(B) of 1978 PA 368 provides for the incorporation by reference of section 1877 of Part D of Title XVIII of the Federal Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395nn).  The rules will take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State, unless specified otherwise in the rules.

     

    Public hearing comments may be presented in person, and written comments may be submitted at the time of presentation.  Written comments also will be accepted until Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 5:00
