NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

BOARD OF CHIROPRACTIC – GENERAL RULES FEBRUARY 16, 2011

9:00 A.M.

The Department of Community Health will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Department of Community Health, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 3, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

 

The public hearing is being held to receive comments from interested persons on proposed amendments to the Board of Chiropractic administrative rules that will implement the requirements of Public Acts 221 and 223, which took effect on January 5, 2010. Public Act 223 expanded the scope of practice for chiropractors in Michigan and Public Act 221 requires the Department to promulgate rules related to the expanded scope of practice. The Department will also receive additional comments on proposed amendments to the administrative rules that were initially presented at a public hearing held on November 30, 2009. The proposed amendments include, in part, revisions that update and clarify the requirements for licensure, update the continuing education requirements for licensees, and specify the information a licensee is required to document in a patient record entry.

 

These rules are being promulgated under the authority of sections 16145(3), 16401, 16423, and 16431(3) of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.16145(3), MCL 333.16401, MCL 333.16423, and MCL

333.16431(3) et seq. and Executive Reorganization Order Nos. 1996-1, 1996-2, and 2003-1, MCL 333.3101, MCL 445.2001 and MCL 445.2011. The rules will take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State, unless specified otherwise in the rules.

 

Comments on the proposed rules may be presented in person at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted at the time of presentation and will also be accepted until Friday, February 18, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at the following address or E-mail address:
