16 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

    ORR # 2002-056

DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AND INDUSTRY SERVICES PSYCHOLOGY - GENERAL RULES

The Department of Consumer & Industry Services will hold a public hearing on Friday, March 7, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Department of Consumer & Industry Services, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 1, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

The public hearing is being held to receive comments from interested persons on amendments to the Michigan Board of Psychology Administrative Rules. The Public Health Code requires the Board to grant a limited license to an individual who has been granted a master’s degree in psychology. The administrative rules, pursuant to MCL 333.16145(3), require applicants for a limited license to have earned a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and with coursework that meets requirements in the rules. The rules, however, do not require the degree to be in psychology. Given the difference between the requirements in the Code and the administrative rules, the rules are being amended to require an applicant for a limited license in psychology to have earned a master’s degree in psychology.

Hearing comments may be presented in person, with written comments available at the time of presentation. Written comments will be accepted at the following address or E-mail address until Monday, April 7, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. Address communications to:
