    DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AND INDUSTRY SERVICES BOARD OF COUNSELING

    COUNSELING - GENERAL RULES

     

    The Department of Consumer & Industry Services will hold a public hearing on Friday, April 11, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. 10:30 a.m. at the Department of Consumer & Industry Services, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 2, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

     

    The public hearing is being held to receive comments from interested persons on amendments to the Michigan Board of Counseling Administrative Rules. The rules are being amended to delete outdated provisions from the licensing rules and to revise these rules to facilitate the licensing of individuals who are licensed in other states as counselors. The proposed rules also will provide a definition of “supervisor” to clarify who may serve in this capacity and will specify the duration of the supervisory period.

     

    These rules are being promulgated under the authority of section 18501 of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.1101 et seq. and Executive Order Nos. 1996-1 and 1996-2, MCL 330.3101 and 445.2001. The rules will become effective (7) seven days after filing with the Secretary of State.

     

    Hearing comments may be presented in person, with written comments available at the time of presentation. Comments may also be submitted by mail, FAX, or electronic mail until May 12, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. Address communications to:
