    PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

    On Proposed Licensing Rules for Child Placing Agencies and Foster Family Homes & Foster Family Group Homes

    The Department of Human Services will hold 2 public hearings to receive public comments on proposed changes to Licensing Rules for Child Placing Agencies Foster Family Homes & Foster Family Group Homes. The hearings are scheduled for:

     

    Monday, May 22, 2006 (2:00 PM 7:00 PM) in the Spring Hill Motel, 111 S. Marketplace Blvd., Lansing.

    Tuesday, May 30, 2006 (2:00 PM 7:00 PM) in the VisTaTech Center Theatre, Schoolcraft College, 18600 Haggerty Road, Livonia.

     

    The proposed rules are being promulgated under the authority conferred upon the director of the Michigan Department of Human Services by sections 2, 5, 10, and 14 of 1973 PA 116 and Executive

    Reorganization Orders Nos. 1996-1, 1996-2, 2003-1, and 2004-4, MCL 722.112, 722.115, 722.120,

    722.124, 330.3101, 445.2001, 445.2011, and 400.226. The proposed rules would require caregivers to follow safe sleep procedures. There are also rules requiring agencies to provide training on safe sleep procedures and to comply with the child protection law. Comments on the rules may be made in person at the hearing or by mail, FAX, or Electronic mail until May 31, 2006.

     

    The rules [Rule Sets 2005-072HS and 2005-073HS] are published in the Michigan Government web site at http:www.michigan.gov/orr. The rules are proposed to become effective 30 days after filing with the Secretary of State.

     

    The public hearings will be conducted in compliance with the 1990 Americans With Disabilities Act, in accessible buildings with handicap parking available. Anyone needing assistance to take part in the hearings can call 517/335-6124 to make arrangements.
