NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

BOARD OF SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY – GENERAL RULES JUNE 6, 2011

9:00 A.M.

RULE SET # 2010-004 LR

 

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 6, 2011, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 3, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

 

The public hearing is being held to receive comments on the proposed rules that will implement the requirements of Public Act 524 of 2008, which took effect on January 13, 2009. Public Act 524 requires the licensure of speech-language pathologists and the proposed rules will establish requirements for the licensure, licensure by endorsement, and relicensure of speech-language pathologists. In addition, the proposed rules will establish requirements for a limited speech-language pathology license for certified teachers; establish requirements for an educational limited license for the purpose of completing a supervised postgraduate clinical experience; adopt an examination for speech-language pathologists; establish requirements for a supervised postgraduate clinical experience; and adopt by reference educational standards for speech-language pathology educational programs.

 

These rules are being promulgated under the authority of sections 16145(3) and 17801 of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.16145(3) and MCL 333.17801 et seq. and Executive Reorganization Order Nos. 1996-1, 1996-2, 2003-1, and 2011-4, MCL 333.3101, MCL 445.2001, MCL 445.2011, and MCL 445.2030. The

rules will take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State, unless specified otherwise in the rules.

 

Comments on the proposed rules may be presented in person at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted at the time of presentation and will also be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on June 8, 2011, at the following address or e-mail address:
