    BOARD OF OPTOMETRY - GENERAL RULES

     

    The Department of Community Health will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 from 11

    a.m. to Noon at the Department of Community Health, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 2, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

     

    The public hearing is being held to receive comments from interested persons on amendments to the Michigan Board of Optometry Administrative Rules, which will revise provisions in the current rules to comply with Public Act 599 of 2002. The Act amended the Public Health Code to revise the definition of “therapeutic pharmaceutical agent”; increase the number of continuing education hours that an applicant for license renewal must obtain; and, require optometrists who administered pharmaceutical agents to have at least 50% of their continuing education hours for license renewal to be in the category of pharmacological management of ocular conditions.

     

    These rules are being promulgated under the authority of section 17401 of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.17401  et  seq.  and  Executive  Reorganization  Order  Nos.  1996-1,  1996-2  and  2003-18,  MCL

    333.3101, 445.2001 and 445.2011.

     

    Hearing comments may be presented in person, with written comments available at the time of presentation. Written comments will be accepted at the following address or E-mail address until Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. Address communications to:
