A public hear ing on proposed am endment s to Regulat ion 628 , Seed Potat o Cert ificat ion, will be held on Wednesd ay, J uly 18, 2001 , begi nn ing at 2:30 pm in Conference Room 2, Upp er Park ing Level, Otta wa Building, 611 W. Otta wa, Lan sing, Michigan .
The proposed am endment s for seed potat o cert ificat ion include:
Removal of cert ificat ion criteria for mat erial produced un der th e old hill selection system; Clar ificat ion of timelines to add ress bacterial ring rot infections;
Eliminat ion of Rule 4 a which provided for special isolat ion provisions for mat erials intr oduced int o ope rat ions un de r th e old hill selection program ;
Development of a new seed potat o classificat ion system for mat erials produced thr ough tissue cultur e.
Development of field an d wint er tes t toleran ce for th e new classificat ion system noted in 4 above.
