NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING IONIZING RADIATION RULES - MAMMOGRAPHY

SEPTEMBER 5, 2012

9:00 A.M.

RULE SET # 2011-010 LR

 

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 4, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

 

The public hearing is being held to receive comments on the proposed amendments to Part14 - Mammography of the Ionizing Radiation Rules. The current mammography rules were added to the Ionizing Radiation Rules on November 12, 1993 pursuant to P.A. 333.13523.  Subsequent to that date federal regulations pertaining to mammography were enacted.  The proposed changes to Part 14 will update the current rule set to be more consistent with the federal regulations, add appropriate requirements for the use of digital mammography machines, and add requirements for stereotactic breast biopsy consistent with the recommendations of the American College of Radiology.

 

These rules are being promulgated under the authority of section 13521 of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.13521 and Executive Reorganization Order Nos. 1996-1, 1996-2, 2003-1, and 2011-4 being MCL

330.3101, MCL 445.2001, MCL 445.2011, and MCL 445.2030. The rules will take effect 7 days after filing with the Secretary of State.

 

Comments on the proposed rules may be presented in person at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted at the time of presentation and will also be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on September 5, 2012, at the following address or e-mail address:
