    Board of Audiology General Rules

     

    The Department of Community Health will hold a public hearing on Monday, September 26, 2005 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Department of Community Health, Ottawa Building, 611 West Ottawa, Conference Room 2, Upper Level, Lansing, Michigan.

     

    The public hearing is being held to receive comments from interested persons on establishing in administrative rules requirements for licensure as an audiologist pursuant to Public Act 97 of 2004. Public Act 97 amended the Public Health Code to prohibit an individual from engaging in the practice of audiology unless he or she is licensed or otherwise authorized by the Code to practice audiology. The proposed administrative rules will implement the licensing requirements of Public Act 97, including providing for the adoption of an examination that addresses all aspects of the practice of audiology and implementing the Act’s continuing education requirement for license renewal and relicensure.

     

    These rules are being promulgated under the authority of sections 16145(3) and 16801 of 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.16145(3) and 333.16801 and Executive Reorganization Order Nos. 1996-1, 1996-2 and 2003- 1, MCL 330.3101, 445.2001 and 445.2011. The rules will take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State, unless specified otherwise in the rules.

     

    Hearing comments may be presented in person, with written comments available at the time of presentation. Written comments also will be accepted after the public hearing at the following address or E-mail address until Friday, September 30, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. Address communications to:
