The director of conservation may, in his discretion, issue permits to commercial fishermen licensed under the provisions of Act No. 84 of the Public Acts of 1929, as amended, being S308.1 et seq. of the Michigan Compiled Laws, to use trawls for taking chubs, herring, alewife, smelt, and such other species of fish as he may designate.
