a. (1) An employer who has a place of employment subject to these rules shall monitor each workplace and work operation to accurately determine the airborne concentrations of benzene to which employees may be exposed.

(2) The employer shall complete the initial monitoring within 30 days of the introduction of benzene into the workplace.
