Section 338.11509. Dental specialty licensure candidate failing examination twice; requirements before reexamination.

Any candidate for licensure as a dental specialist who sustains 2 successive failures in a Michigan specialty examination shall present evidence of additional education in the area in which the failure occurred. The additional education shall consist of a minimum of 40 clock hours of board-approved clinical instructions, which shall be both didactic and practical, shall be in a dental program or hospital approved by the board, and shall be completed subsequent to the date of the last examination failed. A proposed plan shall be submitted for approval by the board or board designee before starting the additional education. The additional education shall be satisfactorily completed as evidenced by certification by the program dean or designated appointee.
