  • g. (1) Full approval as a transition coordinator shall be granted by the department to a person who meets all of the following requirements:

    (a)   A bachelor's or graduate degree in special education or a field related to transition of youth with disabilities into adult life roles. Related fields include, but are not limited to, general and vocational education, vocational rehabilitation, and counseling.

    (b)   A minimum of 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience in special or vocational education at the secondary level; or a minimum of 3 years of satisfactory employment providing transition-related service to individuals with disabilities between the ages of 13 to 26 years. Transition-related services include, but are not limited to, vocational rehabilitation, employment, counseling, independent living, and mental health. A person

    with a master's degree in special education or field related to transition of youth with disabilities into adult life roles shall be credited with 1 year of employment.

    (c)   Approval under competencies and procedures established by the department.
