  • (1) In large and secure facilities, all halls, stairways, and means of egress shall be constantly lighted. Approved exit signs shall be installed over each required exit. Exit directional signs shall be provided where exit signs are not readily visible in means of egress. In new and converted large and secure facilities, emergency light packs and exit lights shall be provided along the means of egress. These devices shall include an electric charging unit that will maintain the batteries fully charged.

    (2) In new and converted multistory large and or multistory secure facilities, there shall be a system of emergency backup capable of maintaining required lighting for not less than 24 hours in the event of power failure.
