Side grinding shall only be performed on an abrasive wheel that is designed for that purpose. A wheel designed for grinding on the periphery shall not be used for side grinding. This does not preclude wheel use for applications such as shoulder, form, and contour grinding, where it is recognized that a limited amount of grinding with the side of the wheel is performed with a wheel that is designed for periphery grinding.
