Rule 46. Section 3.19.4.5 of the ASME A17.1 code is amended to read as follows:

3.19.4.5 A new hydraulic machine shall be provided with the necessary permanent pressure gauge snap-on fittings or permanent gauges, with a shut off valve to allow pressure readings at each pump for checking operating pressures. The gauge or fitting shall be located on the jack side of the check valve or immediately adjacent to

the hydraulic control valve. Where the hydraulic machine is located in the hoistway, the pressure gauge fittings shall only be accessible to elevator personnel from outside the hoistway.
