    R 340 .1796  Teache rs  of the  STUDEN TS  WITH speech  and  language   i mpa ir ed IMP AIRMEN T; specia l re quiremen ts .

    Rule  96.  (1)     A  teacher  of  th e  STUD EN TS  WITH  spee ch  an d  lan gua ge  im p a ir ed IMPAIRMEN T sha ll meet all of th e following requirement s:

    (a)                An earn ed ma ster's degree in spee ch an d lan gua ge path ology.

    (b)               A minimum of 60 semester OR EQUIVALEN T hours of academic credit in norma l aspects of human  commun icat ion,  development  th ereof,  an d  clinical  techn iques  for evaluat ion an d mana gement of spee ch an d lan gua ge disorders distr ibut ed as follows :

    (i)                 A minimum of 12 semester OR EQUIVALEN T hour s in cour ses perta ining to norma l development of spee ch, lan gua ge, an d hear ing.

    (ii)               A minimum of 30 semester OR EQUIVALEN T hour s in cour ses on commun icat ion disorders an d evaluat ion an d mana gement of spee ch, lan gua ge, an d hear ing disorders. Of th ese 30 semester OR EQUIVALEN T hour s, 24 hour s sha ll be  in  spee ch  an d  lan gua ge path ology an d 6 sha ll be in au diology. Not more than 6 of th e 30 semester OR EQUIVALEN T hour s ma y be earn ed for clinical pra cticum .

    (iii)             A minimum of  30  semester  OR  EQUIVALEN T  hour s  that  ar e  acceptable  on  a gra duat e level, of which 21 hour s sha ll be with in th e group spe cified un der para gra ph (ii) of th is subdivisi on.

    (c)                A minimum of 300 clock hour s of supervised pra ct icum expe rience with pe r s on s STUD EN TS who prese nt a  var iety  of  commun icat ion  disorders,  to  be  acquired  in conjun ct ion with academic tra ining, 150 hour s of which sha ll be obta ined on th e gra duat e level.

    (2)               The stat e boar d of educat ion or it s des ignee sha ll approve  as  a  teacher  of  th e STUD EN TS WITH spee ch an d lan gua ge im p a ir ed IMPAIRMEN T a person WHO IS employed or approved as  a  teacher  of  th e  STUD EN TS  WITH  spee ch  an d  lan gua ge im p a ir ed IMPAIRMEN T before th e effective dat e of th ese ru les.
