Rule 33. Section 2.2.2.4 of the ASME A17.1 code is amended to read as follows:

2.2.2.4 Drains and sump pumps, where provided, shall comply with the Michigan plumbing code, R 408.40701 et seq. and shall be provided with a positive means to prevent water, gases, and odors from entering the hoistway.

Subsoil drains shall not be connected or discharged to elevator pits or sumps.
